The Power of Community
Greenbriar Community School exists because of people who care deeply about education, stewardship, creativity, and community. Over the past year especially, we have been humbled and energized by the incredible generosity shown by individuals, families, and organizations who have stepped forward to support our mission in tangible and meaningful ways.
This post is a moment of gratitude…. an opportunity to publicly honor some of the recent contributions that have helped Greenbriar grow, restore, and thrive.

Restoring a Piece of Greenbriar History
Thanks to the Samsung facility in Taylor, a team of volunteers was able to protect and restore a historic Greenbriar mosaic, a beloved piece of art whose origins date back several decades. This mosaic was created by founder Judy and students in 1973. This restoration represents the continuity, care, and the layered story of this land and community.
The restoration work brought hands, hearts, and history together; reminding us that preservation is an act of love.

Supporting Teachers Through Innovation
We are also deeply grateful to Texit Coin, whose support of our Teacher Salary Fund helped us take an important step into the future. Their contribution supported Greenbriar educators directly and facilitated our very first cryptocurrency transaction, marking a milestone in our exploration of innovative, decentralized ways to sustain community education.
This support reflects a shared belief in teacher sovereignty, adaptability, and forward-thinking solutions.

Investing in Infrastructure for the Long Term
Last summer, Greenbriar received a grant from the Vela Fund to help update our electrical system, a critical infrastructure improvement that supports safety, functionality, and future growth. We are happy to share that this project is now approximately halfway complete, and we are incredibly grateful for the foresight and trust that made this work possible
Infrastructure may be invisible when it’s working well, but it is foundational to everything we do.

Expanding Learning Spaces Through Generosity
A special and heartfelt thank-you goes to Jennifer and Daniel Park, whose vision and generosity transformed our dojo building into something truly extraordinary. Through their remodeling efforts, Greenbriar gained:
1. A second schoolhouse for older students
2. A flexible classroom space for workshops and community offerings
3. Dedicated office space for our administrative team
This transformation has expanded not only our physical footprint, but also what is possible for our students, teachers, and broader community.

With Gratitude
Each of these contributions reflects something larger than funding or labor; they reflect trust, alignment, and belief in what Greenbriar is building.
We are profoundly thankful to everyone who has supported this school through time, talent, resources, and care.
Greenbriar is not just a place. It is a living community, and communities thrive when people show up for one another.
Thank you for being part of this story. 🤟🏼
